Hobart D300 gear problem

December 25, 2012 - 1:42pm -- MNBäcker

Hi all.

Thought I'd throw this out here:

When turning on the mixer (an older 30-qt Hobart), the motor runs fine, but most of the time, first gear runs either very slowly or not at all. When I turn it off, switch it into second gear and then back into first (without turning it on), then switching it back on in first gear, it works fine. Is that a problem with the shifter? How do I get to the shifter - can I reach it from the control panel, or do I have to go through the top?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive scale?

October 19, 2011 - 11:39am -- Cinnamon Turtle

I have a low-end DigiWeigh postal scale that is meant to weigh in both English and metric, but I've found that it's not terribly sensitive, and I've only been able to get it to register grams in increments on five. Sometimes, it doesn't seem to register at all until there's at least ten grams on it. Of course, there could actually be God know how much from none to 14 grams, probably. Obviously, this isn't working out well.

TFL Amazon Storefront

Floyd, I just noticed the link to the TFL Amazon Storefront. I don't know if it was there before or if it's part of the upgrade.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is: does the site get a benefit if we make purchases that way? I'd like to know, because if it helps you, I will make all of my Amazon baking book purchases through the link. And I'm sure others here will want to do the same.
