I am in Brooklyn for a week (Park Slope and the opposite side the P Park). What are the must try places for bread, bagels and pizza? Levain based preferred.
It was great to come downstairs and find miche from Bread Alone on the counter!
Looks like Amy's and Sullivan Street are only in Manhattan.
Second question: My sisters want to go to Zabars, my grandmother's deli. I see rcommendations for Katz's. How are they similar, different?

I recently had a bread procured from a neighborhood store made by kings road, like italian/french, darl, almost burnt thick crust, light, soft interior.

I'm new here, posting for first time.
There is a bread available in Brooklyn and on the lable is I beleive has 'Kings Road' or something like that. It is like a french bread, I think, long narrow, the crust is dark brown, crusty and tough, the inside is light and airy.
Anyone got a recipe for a bread like this? I'll be working the dough in a bread maker but cooking in oven at 550F on a pizza stone unless otherwise directed.
