The essential problem with white bread...

... is that when you combine 8 thick slices (broken into pieces) with 1 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 tablespoon vanilla, 3 eggs, and 2 cups of whole milk and bake it at 400 F for 30 minutes, it turns into bread pudding!

I've discovered this problem recently, and now I must spend another 4 hours a week on my bike to rid myself of the calories.

This is most distressing.

I found the following video and recipe on Grist.  I thought others might enjoy.  The film is by Daniel Klein in his The Perennial Plate Series.  I enjoyed the bakery footage and appreciated that he didn't hide the fact that in home cooking, not everything turns out perfectly.

Leftover Panettone makes a flavorful bread pudding.  A warm dessert for Christmas or New Years Eve.

Thanksgiving rolls left over?

I made a batch of rolls last night and they didn't come out very well. I made the dough way too dry and couldn't correct it.  Well, tonight as I was getting dinner ready I thought I should make my wife a treat.  She has picked up a bug somewhere and feels crummy.  As I have a good bit of bread in the freezer, bread pudding came to mind.
