MTO Brick Oven
I am starting a project using Rado's (@traditionalovens) plans for a hybrid MTO-Swishy oven down in Texas....3" Perlite -cement insulating layer
Allen Scott v. Pompeii-style
Hello,
I've been trying to buy the Scott plans but no luck getting in touch with his son, Nick. I'm not an experienced mason so a bit tetchy on relying solely on The Bread Builders to build a Scott-style oven.
Forno kindly furnishes plans for a round, Pompeii-style oven. I seem to recall reading somewhere from Mr. Scott that the round style, while good for pizza, is not great for hearth bread. Cannot recall why. Dead spaces? Too much retained heat by the geometry in the hearth firebrick?
Hearth slab: castable refractory cement?; DIY - coverage
Hello all, just pricing out a possible brick oven project. I'm weighing how much more costly it would be to go with castables v. my terrible back, and PITA to do my own mixes.
Having some trouble finding castable refractory concrete. Plenty of cement, mortar. I do see Heatcast 40, but I can't tell if that's a concrete ready to pour for a slab, or I need to add in components like below. Also, hoping to come in much less costly (just a hearth slab using this alone comes to $1800!). Any recommendations for the pre-mixed refractory concrete?
free brick ovens!!!
There is a former pizza shop that has 2 large stone and brick ovens that are up for grabs. These are FREE. Coal heated. Guessing that wood would work as well.
Not sure if it is practical to disassemble and reassemble these ovens. Someone with experience could answer that question. I'm guessing that the footprint of these ovens is 25' x 30'.
I would love to bake on these ovens myself. No room in my current shop. Could be a wonderful project for someone.
I'm just spreading the word. Current building is scheduled to be demolished in the future.
Quebec bread oven
I am planning to build a Quebec adobe bread oven this spring. I have the door and am starting with a 4'X6' pedestal about three feet high. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with one of these.
Thanks!
My oven build, "It's a primitive oven, just build it".
I started this project not knowing the magnitude of this endeavour. I love beginning projects and my wife told me I could not start a new one until this was finished, which was sometimes the driving force to keep me going with it.
new brick oven for village bakery in Catalunya
Hi everyone
I'm a peasant baker in Spain, and I need a refractory mason who can come and assist with our oven. We can provide accommodation and payment (of course). We have designs, plans, elevations, photos, etc.
My stonemason and I are keen to have a go ourselves but ideally with supervision, assistance and collaboration.
Bread in the uuni Pro oven
I was just curious about this oven (ever curious) and I found that it can be used for making bread. huh! And then I found this video.
Fabulous - Great video of how it works with the awesome rap and obviously this baker knows how to work dough. AND... on top of all of that, it's fun to watch!
