Judges Bakery - Hastings East Sussex

I just found this place through an artisan bread website.

Who else in the UK knew of it?

We are going to the Jack in the green festival there in May, so, I will be going on a day it will be open (the festival is 4 or 5 days long and we will go on the weekend sometime.)

I will be taking pictures, buying lots of bread and hopefully giving a personal account of the products.

My tastebuds are already primed, and I want May to huury up and come! But, I cannot go wishing life away especially over bread!

Thanks to Floyd - again!

As I was enjoying my 'french' bread again this past weekend, I thought how thankful I am for this website! Without it, I would never have had the courage to learn to bake bread! Thanks again Floyd! :)  ~johnm

Traveling to Zurich, Budapest, Wiesbaden, Vienna

In late March, I'll be traveling to Zurich, Budapest, Wiesbaden, and Vienna.  I've been to all of these cities before (except Budapest), but never with an eye toward bread shops/bakeries.  I'm an at-home cake decorator, so I was always keep watch for cake shops.

I would love to visit some recommended spots in these cities.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Bread and Roses, a fantastic French Bakery

If you want to see a fantastic bakery go the site of the French bakery, Bread and Roses. Click on PAIN for bread photos but be sure to check out the other photos of the restaurant, etc. The photos are a great inspiration, I just wish I could read French. Take a look, you won't be sorry. My daughter was there last year. She also visited the famous Poulaine Bakery and took great photos down in the cellar like baking room with the ovens and all. Hope you enjoy Bread and Roses.

My travel to Paris

Here you can find some pics of my recent trip to Paris :

Paris-Bakeries

Starting with Pierre Hermé

Peeking inside Paul Bakery

Some random bakery pics

Chocolate from 'La Maison Du Chocolat'

And then my favorite bakery : 'Le Moulin De La Vierge' with awesome ancient interior

And last a set of the Poilâne bakery.

I wish I could have visited more, but not being able to do them all I have a reason to go back there :-D

Hope you enjoy.

Salt Lake City - any recommendations?

I am on a business trip to the Salt Lake City area and was wondering if anybody could point me to a good bakery to try?  I am actually staying in Tooelle and traveling to Dugway daily, but will have the majority of Thursday to explore the area in more detail.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bakery in Spello, Umbria called Artiganale

We just got back from a trip to Italy (Spello in Umbria was our base) and as luck would have it there was a local bakery just outside our door that made fantastic bread in a wood fired oven. I wanted to take a tour and post some photos etc here but my Italian isn't good enough to do so. We ate plenty of their bread though. A batard of bread made with half farro was under $2 (about 1.20 euro). I came home with quite a taste for saltless bread as that is what most of it is there.
