I have been using those black seeds on my bread as topping for many years..  I always wonder why it is not more popular in the US.

Those seeds are available at any Mediterranean or Indian food stores. Those seeds give an amazing aroma and flavor to the breads, especially to sourdogh bread.

has any one else try those?

Anybody have a Savory Onion Spread Recipe?

Has anybody seen a recipe for something like a savory onion spread? I while back somebody posted a very simple recipe in a local newspaper for savory onion something, I don't think it had any ingredients other than onions, and it slow cooked for a long time until they become a kind of jam or spread. This sounds like something I would love to try on my sourdough, but I can't find the article, and the reipes I find online have a long ingredient list, I just know this is not what I had read about.

Something to do with bread: Crostini

The sourdough bread is cool enough to slice, and the oven is now free to roast the chicken for dinner. The chicken liver, heart and gizzard are sitting there, forlorn and neglected. Don't let it happen! Make crostini!

Crostini
2 T olive oil
1/4 cup finely chopped shallot
1 large chicken liver, chopped very fine
1 chicken gizzard chopped very fine
1/4 tsp dried tarragon
Dash or two of salt
4-6 grindings of black pepper
3 T of Marsala
