Nice to meet you all.

Hey everyone. I was earnestly searching for help and ideas on bread making and found this sight.  All I can say is wow!!!!  I hope to do some serious reading this weekend.

I am a 52 year old Utility worker in Michigan's Upper Penninsula.  Married 29 years with 3 kids.  And I love to cook among other things.

Nice to make your acquaintence.

This is one of the best baking forums.  I joined a little less than a year ago and have enjoyed learning from everyone.  I love it here!  Al

I've only been a member for about 3 months and have learned so much just from reading many of the past threads posted here. There is no holding back of information if a question is asked. Like one of the Woodworking sites I frequent this is a very laid back group of people up to their elbows in flour!!

Welcome aboard Longwinters. There are a few regulars from the UP and quite a few of us with history there. I look forward to seeing your breads. What is the type of bread you would like to make?

Once you've read through TFL, don't forget about MEL - the Michigan Electronic Library.  Escanaba, Ishpeming, and Iron Mountain are a few of the UP libraries participating.

You can have, for example, Jeffrey Hamelman's Bread shipped up there to your library and I'm sure there are many more titles available on the topic of artisan breads, including Peter Reinhart's "BBA."

Good reading for our long winters.

from another Michigander, even though I've lived out of state for the past 21 years and am now residing further away than ever before in South Africa.  I never expected that those 4 years at MTU would be a ticket to so many different destinations on this globe.

Glad to have you on board and I hope to hear about your bread.
