Triangle bread

Does anybody know how to shape a triangle bread?

You can get a triangle banneton/brotform. I'm not sure what the shaping technique would be like though. I  Imagine just a good size boule and let it proof into the corners.

Here's one source for a triangle banneton/brotform.

They ain't cheap!!!!!

The slovakian ones aren't so bad, but the triangle is small. I have a couple of the rounds and an oblong, and they are nice.

Thanks for the answers but... it still doesn't help me.

How to pre-shape before the banneton & without one?

I would gently flatten the dough into a square and fold it over onto itself, corner to corner.  Maybe that's too simple but I try not to over think this stuff.

I still think a boule would fill in the corners as it proofs, but maybe I'm wrong.

I am certainly in agreement with you on that one.

Ron, you seem to be focused on preshaping the loaf.  If you're OK with letting the form do it and don't want to spend a fortune, do you are anyone close to you do anything with wood?  You might try constructing a simple trianguler box (I'd use maple) as a shaping tool.

No, i'm not focus on pre-shaping but on the shape itself.

i just wonder how to do it. "corner to corner" sounds good !

Here is one slash idea I came up with for Susan:

Your slash suggestion is perfect for the bicycle-seat triangular shape.

And, yes, that loaf started out as a boule.  Good thinking, bassopotamus!

That pinwheel slash is awesome!

Ron how about shaping the triangles like the traditional Hamantashen ("Ozney Haman")? If you start out with a flattened round just like for a boule, and make sure you seal the seams well, it seems to me that it would work.

OK how about shaping a tin foil baking dish into the triangle shape and baking your loaf in it... qahtan

I was playing with some dough and I see where you're coming from.

I thought of a circle with the edges folded over, doesn't work

I thought of folding a flag, long rectangle and folding, same uneven loaf but better

a round loaf without a form returns to being round... possible scoring to create a triangle?

folding...how about spreading the dough out into a disk and then folding it in half.  fold one third into the middle and then the other third over it.

cutting...then I thought of spreading the dough out into a disk then cut into 6 pie shaped pieces and stack them one on top of another and pat the sides smooth ... or not

cutting...along the same lines is spreading dough into a disk and cutting into two halves.   Place half of one on top of half the other and fold over alternately creating a triangle by patting the rounded side ... or not

I slashed a boule with Mini's triangle slash shown on this thread, and my loaf came out as a rounded triangle, so give that a try and see if it works well enough for you.  Good luck!
