First loaf

I recently bought BBA and tried to make a basic loaf, two cups white flour and two of WW and a package of instant yeast, and enough warm water to make it sticky, let it rise, and then proofed it as a loaf and baked it. It turned out quite nicely for something thrown together. I have some experience with dough, since I make fresh donuts at our local grocery store. I'm just thrilled to get into the breads though. I forgot I also used a tsp salt, approximately and also a handful of sugar to feed the yeast. It came out wonderful for just tossing together. I used my new kitchenaid mixer to do most of the mixing, and I just finished up kneading on the table otherwise. I'm pretty excited about how good and even the dough came out! Not bad for a first try in several years. I made bread a couple times when I was much younger. This was awesome. I can't wait to eventually get into sourdoughs. I just don't have the time to devote like I would like to have, plus I just don't have my kitchen set up exactly like I would like. There are some more things I would like to have. TaTA!

I have been making breads for 20 years but each time a fresh loaf comes out the oven my heart still swells with excitment.  It's something you will never get tired of.  Congrats on your first loaf.  Keep up the good work!

I plan on tweaking that recipe, adding another ingredient to see what happend, sort of like the guy did that wrote about the bread primer, how he started with a basic loaf and then tweaked a little here and a little there. I'm going to do that myself, to see what each ingredient  brings to the consistency of the dough. I don't mind, since flour is pretty cheap and I have eggs, etc.
