where to find 7 grains

I bought the Kashi hot cereal in packages.  Was this the right stuff to buy?  I've looked in the whole isle, looking for 7 grain cereals, and I thought I remembered on here it was in the hot cereal section.  So did I buy the right stuff?

I'm not familiar with the Kashi brand.  I have bought Bob's Red Mill hot cereals--various numbers of grains-- and used them in bread in the health food store, so if the Kashi doesn't work, you might try  looking at a health food store.   Does it look like raw oats and other grains or is it ground up and look like grits?  My favorite is Bob's Red Mill 5-grain cereal.  I think they have 7-grain, 10-grain and possible 8-grain.

It's not ground up, but I didn't realize it was flavored with honey and cinnamon.  It might be good in bread but probably too much sugar?

There are no Bob's REd MIll cereals in the cereal isle.  Not sure about at the co-op, I'll have to look, now that I know what to look for.

Is it like a flake though?  or just little pieces of grains?

OK, both Rose Levy and Reinhart have recipes for 7-grain breads and talk about the wonders of 7-grain mixes without listing what the 7 grains are!  Can everyone post their lists of the 7-grain mixes they use, and whether or not they weigh them before or after soaking?

The grocery stores in my area have all the Bob's Red Mill products together in the flour section. Also our local Winco Foods has it in the bulk section.

Kashi has a flake that is made of 7 grains, that WM has, that isn't puffed.  I haven't looked at the recipes recently to know if similarly to bran, the cereal is soaked first.  If it is, I would suppose it doesn't matter what form it's in, like puffed, flaked or whole.....

what would you think?
