Easter Morning Baking :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Spring Holidays to everyone!  I celebrate Easter and am happy to be up early and baking today. 

I am bringing Ciabatta with Poolish (recipe from the Handbook section of this site) to my mother's house for dinner.  I am making 4 loaves of Ciabatta as well as trying a Sourdough Ciabatta (Sourdough Ciabatta-Firm Starter Version from this site) for the first time.  I have been working on my sourdough starter all week.  I will take pictures later...

I have such a nice, warm grounded feeling when I am baking bread.  I woke up in the middle of the night to do a couple of steps so I would be on time today, and I love it.  It is therapy.

From freezing Montreal, Canada.  You sound like a real honest-to-God baker, keeping real baker's hours, but it's wonderful, isn't it?  Enjoy your bread making, and have a wonderful Easter.

Chilly here too (26F), but the Easter Penguin arrived and the sun is kissing the fields of snow, making them sparkle.

Some of the retarded doughs are on the counter warming; others wait their turn to come in from the cold.  

May all of you have a peaceful and treasured day.

Happy Easter from Calgary, Canada!  It's still a bit chilly here, 2C (about 36F) but the sun is rising and it will soon be warm for us.  I did most of the cooking last night and today it's my husband's turn to make the bird.  I probably will just make a couple of loaves and a few muffins for the neighbors.  Can't wait to see what other bakers get to share today.  Have a wonderful Easter Sunday everyone!

I am on my second batch of loaves this am also, and will thank Niagaragirl officially in my other thread.....thanks to her, I'm successfully also bringing quite attractive loaves!

I know what you mean about being grounded, and feeling a sense of accomplishment while baking!

I have made a Challah for Easter that will go very well with the Lamb, Asparagus and Dried Corn that I am making. You can see the bread at http://retirementinidaho.blogspot.com. This should be a great day. It's not snowing here in Boise!

Hello boisebob,

i clicked on that link and that amazing video ignited a desire to make a video like yours.  what software is it?  I noticed the name "smilebox."  Is that the name of the video software.  Is it expensive?  Does it come with a choice of music?  I also loved the music that accompanied the presentation!

You really got me curious now!  Is your blog a wordpress blog?

I baked a second batch of Hot Cross Buns and they disappeared quicker than first batch! So sorry, no photographs. At least I've no problems with them going stale. My first batch went nearly as quickly, but 2 survived till the following day and were reportedly a bit stale.

I got the recipe from "Bread from Ciabatta to Rye" by Linda Collister pg 77. My only change was to use my trusty old Kenwood Chef mixer rather than mixing by hand.

That's a lot of projects going on all at once katelove! I know I'd scramble my brain trying to keep it all straight. As of yet, I'm doing good to get ONE loaf successfully baked at a time :(

I did, however, have a HUGE success this morning when I rolled out of bed at 6 am to make cinnamon rolls.

Hello ques2008,

The program I use for the slides is, in fact, "SmileBox" and I use the free version. You have some choices for music in the background with the free version and you have a huge selection of presentation backgrounds for the slides. You can find SmileBox at www.smilebox.com. Try it and see what you think. There are actually three versions: (1) Free,. (2) Per use charge $3.95, and (3) Yearly charge of $39.95. All three versions offer different music, backgrounds, storage, etc.

No, the blog(s) I keep 5 of them, are from Blogger. Easy to use and fun. You may also want to look at http://boisefoodieguild.blogspot.com and http://tvws.blogspot.com . Blogspot is a fun free, Google related blogger.
