Hello!

Hello everyone, I just joined here.  I am not a good cook, have never liked to cook, but suddenly in my middle age I find myself with this urge to learn to bake bread!  It all started when I read about No Knead Bread in a magazine.  It sounded like something I could actually do.  And my quest for information about that led me here.  I will have plenty of stupid questions, so please be patient with me!  :)

We all have to start somewhere, so there really aren't any stupid questions.  Just ask.  There's oodles of information here, and many, many people who will be more than happy to answer any question you care to ask.

Looks like you may enjoy some old fashioned Bread baking.

Take a look at these two vids and give it a shot. (Perfect oldtime method)

  Salute,

P.S. I bake a lot of bread and everything is done by hand, no machines.
That's the way I enjoy it, prep and baking is often a lot of fun. ;-)

Welcome to TFL - you've chosen a great new hobby - one that will not only enrich your brain cells but your taste buds as well!

PaddyL is right: the only stupid question that exists is the one not asked.

Hang around here for a little while and you'll soon need to change your username 'cause you'll be baking some very good bread.

You may be able to get quite a few answers for your "teachable" questions (more accurate than stupid, no?) by using the Search function for the site.  You'll find the Search box at the top of the column at the left-hand side of the window.  Just type in a word or words that describe the topic of your interest, the click on the Search button immediately under the box.  You can entertain (and inform) yourself for hours this way.

Welcome!

Paul

Thank you to all who posted with such nice welcomes.  I'm doing a lot of reading, and still experimenting with NKB, mainly sourdough, as I finally got my starter ready to go.  I'm having a little trouble, and will soon be finding the right place to post my question if I don't find answers in a search.  Thanks again, everyone!
