Did I kill it?

I'm a newbie at all this but I wanted to try making the blueberry creamcheese braid (http://www.thefreshloaf.com/recipes/blueberrycreamcheesebraid).

Yesterday I put the ingredients together as instructed and mixed them in my KA.  I didn't use the dough hook as I couldn't find it.  I used the um, open paddle looking thingymajig.  I let my dough rest for almost 2 hours and it hadn't doubled yet.  I decided not to throw it away and I put it in a greased bowl in the fridge.  I'm trying to figure if its worth continuing or if I should just toss it and start over.  It has risen a bit in the fridge.

If I did totally wreck it, would it be that the paddle thing tears the dough as it works it?  Would that matter before the dough has even started its rise?

I know its not the yeast because I used it the day before on the no-knead I made and it was fine.

 Any help would be awesome!

 Thanks!

Hi, Traci.

I think it is more likely that you did not develop the gluten well enough than that the paddle tore it.

My advice would be to find your dough hook, buy a replacement or hand knead rather than trying to knead with the paddle.

Thanks David!

I appreciate the feedback. I'll go big and try the hand kneading until I can get a dough hook.
