New Toy - High Temp Air Probe

just arrived. Will help me check on air temperature under my whole oven couche. And hopefully shed some light on what’s happening. Can also probe loaf for doneness based on my current method. Anyone have experience with this type of probe?

I have a Dot and 2 Smokes. The clip is designed for a BBQ grill but will work in an oven, too. Insert the probe in the clip before you mount it in the oven.

I have the smoke with that probe. Love it with one caveat. I use this for ultra high temp pizza baking. Learned the hard way that the housing is not rated as high as the probe it self. Should the probe inadvertently fall and touch a oven surface the housing will fail. Combine that with the not so perfect fit of the grill clip, ypu now have a perfect storm for a clumsy person! Smile. Sill a great tool. I watch my baguette bakes like a hawk and tweak my temp.

Thanks for the tips!  I guess i'll stick with my IR temp gun for the hot pizza baking.. i think air temp is less important than the floor temp there.  trying to rig up a base for the holder out of aluminum foil.. that thing doesnt want to stay upright on the baking stone.

If you stretch out the clip a bit (lot) it will hold on too the oven rack.

I'm trying to get temp inside a large cloche right now. so i have to rig it to stand on the stone.  but that's a great idea to put a rack above when i'm not using the cloche, to do a temp comparison.  thanks.

Should in fall over, I put up dollars to donuts it will fail. once the plastic housing is compromised, it will not be long after you will get the HHH, high temp alert, that does not go away with a drop in temp.
