Turn off notifications

Hi

I posted on a really popular thread and am getting a lot of notifications.  I like getting notifications when but is there a way of just turning them off for this particular thread?  I've looked and can't see it.

There is a tiny little checkbox underneath the "Comment" box where you typed your comment. "Notify me when new comments are posted" . Just uncheck that.

I just started getting notifications recently also. In the past, I always put the setting on "No notification" but something obviously changed. An  site update? I wonder if that changed to being "On" by default rather than "off".

EDIT: Go onto your page and open the EDIT tab. Halfway down is a Notification setting.

OR after you write a comment....

Take a look down here:

Have unchecked the box but since then have had another 12 emails overnight.  Have had to mark all emails from here to spam no was I'm missing my own emails.  I'll never post on one of the community bakes ones again that's for sure!

I'm getting them, too, now on anything I wrote a comment on. It seems that even with the ettings on no notifications, there is a tiny box under each reply/comment you write that is checked "on" by default. That never used to be. Something changed.

Nothing has changed with the notifications in 5 or 6 years. Certainly nothing has changed recently.

Every notification has a link at the bottom that says "You can stop receiving emails when someone replies to this post,

by going to [unsubscribe link]". Have you clicked those links? I believe there is one per post, though there could be one per thread if you are on a post that you've commented on repeatedly.

If you have clicked the unsubscribe link for a  post's comments and are still  receiving notifications for that post, please forward me the notification email and I'll take a look at what is going on. That shouldn't happen.

I wonder if the browser changed settings when it updated? Firefox.

I had previously been set up for NO notifications to posts/comments but only for private messages. Recently-last week it started- I have seen a box that was already checked whenever I posted a comment-"notify when reply posted" or somesuch. When I checked my settings under my user name>edit, I was now set up to receive email notification for replies. I also discovered that the drop down choice was now also set to receive for all replies. This was different and the only explanation I have is either gremlins or updates of some kind because I did not make any changes.

So check your settings- there are 2 under the "edit" of your account and also an "accept" at the bottom of the screen to make the changes.

This is such a great site. Don't let a minor (if annoying) software setting glitch chase you away.

Hi .. It is the community pizza bake thread that I posted on.  I have tried unchecking the box under my post completely but that didn't work.  Now I've ticked to just get replies to my post but have come in to another 10 emails.  I like getting the emails when someone replies to my posts but this is never ending.

Click the unsubscribe link in the bottom of one of the notification emails. It is unique to you. I can't see it.

If that doesn't stop the notifications from that thread, please forward me a notification (with the link) so I can try to figure out why the unsubscribe isn't working.

Thank you.  Have done that now, I hadn't seen it before.  Fingers crossed up to now I'm ok :)
