BBC Food Programme on Modernist Bread

By chance I discovered this week's episode of the the well respected BBC Food Programme (a weekly series) was entitled The Future of Bread and had quite a long interview with Nathan Myhrvold of Modernist Bread fame.

It was an Interesting Listen if you get the chance; I'm not sure how accessible it is outside the UK.

Very good. What a great guy, so enthusiastic about bread.

yes, he's right supermarket bread in Britain is bad, but there's a change happening thank goodness and we are seeing some lovely bakers producing great bread.

Unfortunately there is also a darker side. Search for "Nathan Myhrvold patent troll".

Nice find, great listening on a Sunday afternoon. Be great to hear a panel of anthropologists discussing 100,000 year old evidence of wild sorghum injera bread.

It is accessible outside of the UK.

Good listening, though I expected to hear something completely different.

Now if I could only muster enough strength to finish them books!

And have you learnt anything from what you've read so far? I haven't read them, but I have made the Chocolate Cherry SD and must say that it's pretty fine!

Nothing yet. But I've only been browsing.

I'm the kind of reader that likes to finish the whole book(s) before moving on to another one, so the amount of reading I have to do with Modernist Bread have been deterring me from committing to it.

Enjoyed the program very much, particularly the interviewer who was well prepared. I read a great deal about bread but find I have little interest in owning Myhrvold's opus; too long, too much, but perfect for leafing through it on a snowy day in the reference room in the library. Very happy to find the program, however, and found other programs in the series, including ones not on bread (eek), very well done and informative.
