What to do with a dead KA?

My KA Pro 6qt (2001, I think) blew out the mother board & power supply 1-2 months after I had the worm gear replaced, head tightened and bowl height adjusted.  After much research here bought an Ankarsrum, and am very happy.  I'd decided to not put another $200 into the KA (cost of parts bought directly - my husband could do the repair).

What have other owners of dead KAs done with theirs?  Do people actually buy them for a nominal amount and refurbish?  Don't know if Goodwill, etc. will bother with such a repair.  TIA and Happy Baking!

I kept mine because of all the attachments I have for it.

Youll never regret the Ankarsrum. Have you adjusted to using it yest?

Love the Ankarsrum, especially the powerful, quiet motor and no overheating.  I've been doling out the few KA attachments we had to family and a neighbor.  Kept one 6-qt bowl as it's a good size with a handle.  I know some companies sell refurbished mixers, guess I'll have to find one.  Hate to just donate it for possible trash if it can be fixed and of use to someone.  My husband has 2 lifetime's worth of projects he wants to do; this isn't one of them.

The Ank has been a learning curve and sometimes my tired brain slips into 32-year KA mode and dumps in all the flour first as a recipe might state.  I've had to work through stiff clumps a few times, but have learned my lesson and start with liquid.  Haven't used the batter bowl/beaters nearly as much as the meatl bowl for bread, but no problems.  It's the last mixer I should need (age 59) if it holds up as advertised.  I love the wide open bowl and scraper; always hated the flour-catching divet in the KA bowl, and having to drop it to scrape and see what was going on with my mix.

About 7 yrs ago I bought a Cuisinart SM 70 mixer and it is great! It has 1000 watts, 12 speeds, and a 7 qt bowl. Can find for about $325.Still running strong!
