freezer storage containers for flour/grains
As part of the current laundry/pantry remodel we're finally replacing the old freezer. What containers do you find are space-efficient and come in variable sizes for storing flours and grains? I've always used whatever is around, but it's a mish-mosh. Also, lids need to open easily due to arthritis in both thumbs. I've never taken the time to research and organize until now - want to maximize the new space. Thanks!

are square Cambro tubs with lids but they can get expensive. Tupperware may have something as well.
If those don’t work for your hands, there are things called gamma seals which fit on various sized gallon buckets and are a type of screw lid. Once again, not cheap. You can get those from amazon. The buckets themselves, should be available at your local hardware store like Home Depot, just be sure to get the food safe ones.
I use empty Costco candy jars of this sort.
Great ideas. Hadn't realized gamma lids came in anything smaller than 5 gallon-ish. Gave up Costco after the kids moved on, but can go with a friend. I'd forgotten that we re-purposed many of those square containers years ago - a perfect size and shape. Hope to try all my TFL bookmarks before giving in to surgery and months of no baking (will happily give up housework).

used to come out and figure out for you what fit in your cabinets and or freezer. They were quite good at it and will probably impress you. I don't know if they still do it because we have never needed to replace any of our Tupperware, but it would be worth your time to simply ask if they still offer that service (it use two be for free).

Edrod and Bob. Primed and painted this weekend, getting closer. Love the look of the Prepworks - unfamiliar, but the type of thing I'm seeking. Bob, had never heard that about Tupperware (I'm old enough to remember parties growing up and when I was a younger wife), but will check it out. Now, if choosing a freezer, washer & dryer were that easy. Nobody has decent warranties or the decades-long quality of an appliance like we're replacing, and you're forced service contracts for help after 1 year.
