left open package of yeast out overnight

I had put in a bowl the sugar, salt, flour and the yeast to put in the mixing bowl to make pretzels.  But the bread took a whole lot longer to make and I was in too much pain to make the pretzels.  So, I forgot that the bowl was on the table, covered with plastic until this morning.

Will it have hurt the yeast to have sat out overnight?  I am guessing it will have, but hubby thinks it will be okay.  Don't know whether to toss it, add more yeast, try it and see if it rises.  What would you suggest?

I think it will work.  Try it.  What do you have to lose?

With no water?  It will be perfectly fine.

What do you have to lose?

A load of time, effort and ingredients!

(But I think you're right - it will work fine.)

I thought I had left it in the flour, hubby said, no, I left it in the bowl with the brown sugar and they were uncovered.  Went ahead anyhow and mixed it all up.  Heated up the bathroom while we were mixing it so it was 76 degrees in the room.  Three hours later it hadn't risen and smelled bad, yeastly; so tossed it.

Part of the learning experience.
