Bread pudding. Looks and sounds good.

Looking forward to the taste report.

as pecan pie, maple syrup pie, butter tarts et al, with the bread crumbs seemingly added in as a filler / extender.

Looks like a good use for my growing collection of bread crumbs. Time to make some golden syrup.

Also looking forward to the taste test.

I have discovered that this is Harry Potters favourite desert and today is Harry's birthday...Who Knew!!! Anyway pure coincidence...here is the filling for a 7" pie dish... I only used juice of 1 lemon and zest of 2...

Well Treacle Tart was a success, had a nice lemon hit to balance the syrup not like anything I have ever had before. Not over sweet which I was concerned about. You will have to try it now that your curiosity has peaked. Great use for those breadcrumbs....here is the link...really hope someone tries it.

Grew up eating this, but not had it for a while. What about summer pudding if you want desserts made with bread?

I have never eaten summer pudding, I have watched it being made on tv, the very wet bread puts me off. It probably tastes better than it looks...lol

Had to smile when I saw this . I grew up in England and this was a favourite , not just for dessert with custard  but sliced and eaten alone anytime . I still make it from time to time . It really must be made with Lyles Golden Syrup - the flavour is not the same with any other brand ! Happily I can buy it here in Canada.

Enjoy !  Merlie.

Just remembered  - we often made this without the lemon !

It was a first for me and I did use Lyles and the hit of lemon was very nice, it must of been very sweet without the lemon...the good thing was if you didn't know it was a bread filling you would never of guessed....
