popcorn bread

Has anyone with a Nutrimill used it to grind popcorn?  There is a recipe in the instruction book for popcorn corn bread and I wondered if anyone here has tried it?  After just getting mine back from having it repaired I am a little nervous about popcorn going through it okay.  I would also like recommendations on what the best settings would be to use.  Thanks, Terry

Good morning Terry, in my trusty blue notebook I had copied a recipe for Popcorn Focaccia some years ago but never tried it. It calls for popcorn "flour" made by pulsing unseasoned popped popcorn in a food processor until it became a coarse meal. Any extra could be frozen. This might work if you don't want to risk your grain mill, and I'm assuming you meant popped corn? A.

I am, indeed, hoping someone has ground unpopped popcorn in their Nutrimill and made a traditional type cornbread.

I think I am going to give it try in just a bit.  I have heard popcorn makes especially good cornbread.  Terry

The price might be the major influence.  Has the price for popping corn gone up too?

The pop corn bread was very good.  The recipe I have is huge, so next time it will be cut in half.  I used freshly ground popcorn and white whole wheat.  It seemed to taste a little sweeter than other cornbread I have had.

I did learn to use a much coarser setting for grinding the popcorn, than wheat berries.  Next time I will even make it a little coarser than I did.

I used popcorn I had already purchased from a local Amish bulk food store, so I am not sure about popcorn prices going up.  I don't make a whole lot of corn bread, but wanted to try this.   Terry

This sounds pretty interesting. Can you post the recipe or let me know the ratio of popcorn meal to flour?

I don't have a mill, but I would like to see how it turns out with a food processor.
