Greetings from Beautiful Suburban New Orleans

Well, maybe it's not so beautiful but I am sure that there are worse places to live.  Anyhow, I am a home baker with ten or so years of experience.  As an engineer, I like the science of baking as much as the taste of the results.  I will read, study, or experiment with anything related to home bread making.  Each time I bake, I learn something new and that's the part that keeps me captivated.  This site has been a gold mine so I decided to register.  I want to continue to learn.  Also, I hope to help enthusiasts who are less-experienced than me by sharing what I have learned and been taught by the many generous folks here and elsewhere.  As hokey as it sounds, making and eating bread is a fundamental pleasure of life for me.

This is a great place for bread-heads.  I doubt you'll find anyone who thinks that making and eating bread is hokey.

Some pointers to help you have the best experience here:

1. See that white rectangle in the upper right-hand corner of the page?  The one with the button labeled "Search" to the right of it?  Use that to research questions you might have.  There have been a lot of topics discussed here over the years, many of the repeatedly, so it's great to mine the previous posts for something you might be curious about.  Just type in a word or phrase and click on the Search button.

2. In the black bar at the top of the page, you will see a number of things to explore.  The Handbook, Videos, and Books sections are some that I have found to be particularly helpful.  Perhaps you will, too.

3. If you post a question, give as much background information as you can.  That will help others help you more effectively.

Enjoy!

Paul

Welcom Chub (if I may refer to you as such)

As Paul says, there's nothing hokey about it (at least not here).

I'm looking forward to where your previous experiences and engineering mind might lead us.

And honestly, I find the greater bulk of the bayou region beautiful.
