Slow sourdough starter

Hi, I started a sourdough starter 5 days ago, but so far, no great activity. I think that's it alright stil because it doesn't smell or anything, but what do I do from here. It's winter here in Australia so I guess it's not hot enough, but do I keep feeding it or just wait.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Keep on feeding it and try to find a warm space in your house.

You can put it in the Oven just with the light on , for example.

Your Starter is still very young .

I would say do stir you Starter 2 times a day and feed it as you did before.

Thanks for that. I stood it next to the window this morning (warm from the  sun), so hopefully something will happen by this evening. It looks funny that this is happening in the night, it's 1.30pm here.

Thanks Tiger, but mine has gone down the plug hole and I've started again. Petra also suggested oven with light on but unfortunanely, neither my oven or microwave's light work without being in operation and I don't have a cupboard light. Hopefully this new one will work.

Good news on my sourdough starter journey. I started a new one and have made my first loaf. Nothing fancy, just a plain white one but I've never had sourdough before so had to try it before I got fancy. Also made 2 lovely rye and caraway cobs while we had the wood oven going. Soon my clothes won't fit me, but what the heck. ;-D
