We 3 gmas made ciabatta rolls

Hello... everyone and Happy Independence Day!!!
We made Ciabatta rolls and really enjoyed having them to use as hamburger buns for our Holiday cookouts... here are the pictures... The lead in picture is of the lovely rolls that Helen made.

Below are the rolls Barbra made...

And then there are mine...

This is one of those recipe and one of those weeks that we all used the same recipe and ended up with products that look pretty derned similar! We had fun.... there are some interesting breads on the website... now the challenge is to figure out what we are going to make... this coming week...didn't know about the sourdough challenge last week... I think I will spend some time surfing the site and I know my sisters will come up with some great ideas...

Great baking, great fun... and great sister-time!!!

Happy baking... bake early!

Diane

I'm not a gma but I too made ciabatta rolls this weekend, using a double-batch of Hamelman's Ciabatta with Poolish recipe.  Total yield: 75 rolls!  (2.5 in square...not too large).  I'm lazy and made them square, as per #2 son's request; my kids seem to prefer that shape.  Wait a minute...last count, I was down to 65 rolls.  I guess between my daughter's boyfriend and me, we are slowly decimating the supply...

The weather was baking-perfect here in Philly this weekend, so I forged ahead: in addition to the rolls, I made 4 loaves of Leader's Ricotta Bread, 2 dozen Swedish-style cinnamon buns, the cake component of a Swedish Princess Cake, and a 14x18-inch peach slab pie (OK, the latter didn't get baked yet).  Oh, and we had pizzas for lunch today, using Marc Vetri's dough recipes.

No, I'm not practicing in advance of opening a bakery; I'm practicing in advance of my daughter's Bon Voyage party in two weeks.  Lucky teen is going to be spending the next school year in Sweden!

It felt good to sit and watch the fireworks this weekend.  Yow, are my feet tired!

batch of ciabtta sandwich thins to make me want to smoke some kind if meat - not that we need much of a push :-)  We had a great 4th of July that would have been better with some of these fine looking rolls.  Hope all is well and Lucy looksforward to your next bake,
