Getting ready to try bread in my tiny oven.

I've taken my starter out of the fridge and it's doing it refreshing thing on the work table in the kitchen.  Tomorrow, I will make bread and some sticky buns.  The recipe usually makes 4 loaves.  Now, if the loaves do not fit in the oven, one of my neighbours will get a frantic phone call.  I don't think I'll have any problems with the sticky buns.

having them rise in different times.  yep, a little oven has smaller pans and is limited on dough size.  There was a time I cut the end off my roll of parchment so the roll fit the small trays with one cut.

I'll bake the sticky buns for you (tongue in cheek with puppy dog eyes) if you need help, flash freeze 'em (set them outside) and and um, I'll hitch up the dog sled and come fetch 'em.  (Hubby has the car during the day.)  Good luck!

As we say in Quebec when we're speaking broken English.  One bowl of oatmeal sd and another of plain white sd, the former to be made into little boules, and latter to be made into more manageable sticky buns.  If  you come, Mini, it would be by canoe and portage, as it is teeming rain outside today.  It feels so good to be, once again, covered with bits of flour and dough.

I will have to scrap my plan...

I found a new toy!

I figure I could follow the latitude line, vier south 'round lake superior, follow the shoreline and either head to Detroit and follow the water or take the short cut east.  But only if you're in the city.  I don't have a canoe but I got lots of empty milk jugs and I could strap them right and left onto the pups.  But you said raining?  so much for flash freezing the dough.

Are they done yet?  :)

The sticky bun dough is in the fridge 'til tomorrow.  The bread - shaped into two torpedo or batard loaves so I could put them both on the same pan - is fantastic.  A little scorched on the bottom as I could have put the oven to 325F. instead of 350F., but I just cut one and it is so soft inside; can't wait for breakfast.  I ran into a little problem when my nephew decided to cook his supper just as my bread was due to go in, so we had to slip the loaves (on parchment) off the pan so he could use it, then back onto the pan when he'd finished.  I love oatmeal bread, and you can't buy it around here for love or money!  If my nephew would show me how to upload pictures, I'd post a couple.
