Without knowing your recipe I can tell you that is not Pumpernickel. Pumpernickel is made from coarse and whole rye berries some with sourdough some without.

Made with course pumpernickel flour from King Arthur and sourdough starter. The recipe is from the Bread Baker's Apprentice without the inclusion of cocoa powder for color. I also make rugbrod, which is the Danish version of the dense rye that you showed in the pictures.
