My First Loaf

Well actually a couple. I did a basic french bread based on Reinhart's recipe from Brother Juniper's. The reason I mention it is because it was enough to make 4 baguette's. I had a pan that does three so I made the 4th into a round loaf. What I would like to know is if I can reduce the recipe in half simply by cutting all the ingredients in half. I'm just not sure about the yeast in particular. If anyone knows please enlighten me. The bread was nothing to look at but it tasted great and the family enjoyed it. I made Turkey & Gouda grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup.

If you stayed with me this long I have another question. The baguette's didn't seem to develop as much of a crumb as the round loaf did. Was that because they were so close together and the round by itself? I will try and upload the pictures but I am not sure if it will allow multiple. Thanks in advance for any help!!
