Fiery Chilli Loaves 18/10/2013

Adding half-ounce of chillies makes for a hot bread. Great with plain hoummus, Cream cheese or curry. Made one to eat & one for the freezer. I wonder if it will get hotter with the freezing?

I don't think the frozen loaf will get hotter from freezing. What type or variety of chiles did you use?

Here's a hummus recipe that we always make:

Kicked Up Hummus Dip

Here's something that I make frequently in the summer, good hot weather food.
This recipe has a few more ingredients than the average
Hummus, but I think it tastes so much better!

1 (15 oz) can Chick Peas, drained - rinsed (save 2 Tbs chick pea juice)
2 Tbs chick pea juice
4 Tbs lemon juice (fresh or bottled OK)
2 Tbs lime juice (fresh or bottled OK)
2 Tbs olive oil
2 Tbs Tahini paste (If you don't have it, it's ok to leave it out, this hummus recipe has a lot of flavor without it.)
2 cloves garlic (or 1 tsp crushed garlic from jar)
1 tsp granulated garlic powder
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground coriander
dash cayenne pepper
2 dashes ground black pepper
salt to taste

Place in food processor. Blend until smooth.

Hi,

pleased to meet you Antilope & Thank you for the nice comments. I always worry that my loaves look inferior to the works of art you see on here. But with practice I will get there.

i was just joking about the loaf getting hotter hehehe. But the Hummus recipe looks very tasty and I will definitely be giving that a go. I make all my own pâté and hummus' so another flavour to try will be great.

Kindest regards,

Kris

roasted, de-seeded and de-skinned: red bell pepper, Whole roasted  jalapeno, yellow Cuban, Hatch green chili and a poblano then you have Spicy Southwest Hummus any Brownman would love.  Well, maybe a little more cayenne:-)

That's a good idea. I will try that next time I make the recipe. Thanks!

you used.  They look terrific and I'm guessing the hummus would go well with this bread.

Hi,

first of all thanks for the nice comments regarding my loaves.

I used dried jalapeño chillies. I find they work best as they hold up to being incorporated in the last stages of kneading, they cook well, keep their form so look good in sliced bread and as they still have the seeds are HOT!

Regards

Kris
