where can i purchase CAPUTO 00 (BLUE) FLOUR?

Hello,

I need to get my hands on caputo blu 00 pizza flour. the only place i found online is amazong and the sellers are charging more for delivery than the actual cost of the flour :-/

Is anyone on here holding a surplus maybe and would like to sell me 1-5 kilos of the flour? I'm desperate!!!!

I'm based in London.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David

I bought mine from Niceislife http://www.nifeislife.com/ , based in north London.

They sell it in 1kg packs http://www.nifeislife.com/caputo-wheat-flour-p-669.html or in 25kg sacks http://www.nifeislife.com/caputo-wheat-flour-pizzeria-25kg-p-1064.html

If you wish to use the flour to make pizza I would also recommend http://www.nifeislife.com/smoked-buffalo-provola-500g-p-861.html which adds an extra dimension over and above ordinary mozzarella.

also do you know if their 1kg and 25kg blu bags are the same flour? because it doesnt say it anywhere but the image on the packaging is different...?

they are different. The "pizzeria" in 25 kg bags is stronger than the flour in 1 kg bags. I have the 25 kg bag. If it's of any consolation I can tell you that it's nothing special, I'm just looking forward to finish it. Very very extensible but still a bit difficult to handle when making pizza.

I'm very surprised you say that about caputo flour. Have you got much experience with using 00 flours and making pizzas in general?

Caputo is the most widely used pizza flour in Napoli and in the south in general. More so, some of the top places in the UK and europe use it as well...

so yes, I have quite a lot of experience with 00 flours. If you can find it I recommend you Rossetto flour for pizza. I find it superior to Caputo flour in several respects, not last the taste of pizza dough (at least for my liking) and the bag: it ships in 5 KG bags.  I don't bake pizza as often as bread, but every now and then...

Caputo is good in a wfo as it will colour nicely in the rather extreme heat but tends (in my experience) to stay rather pale when baked in a domestic oven, unless it is over-baked a bit.

well, yes, its falling number is quite high.

Here are the specs

thanks so much for the reply :)

I found nifeislife the problem is the orders are minimum 20 pounds, and I believe my flour will go bad over time or at least lose its freshness if I buy 20 bags to fill the order..?

Thanks again,

David

Isn't there anything else you would want to buy at the same time? I know that it can be difficult to use 16kg of one type of flour in your baking before it goes off but they have some other great produce. Also, I would give them a call if you can collect from their location in NW London as they may waive or reduce the minimum order value for a collection.  It could be worth a phone call and - to answer your first question - I don't know if the flour in the small blue packets is the same as in the 25kg sack, sorry.

You could freeze it - but I agree, when large quantities are required I tend not to buy either.

I have to agree that many places offering Caputo Flour are changing ridicuous amounts for the actual flour and delivery. We offer it at probably the cheapest price in the UK and also a vast range of other imported Italian food. Take a look at our sight and give us a call.

I found this forum and i have found caputo flour at a normal price! i brought it off www.theitaliansupermarket.com and i brought 2 25kg sacks and only paid £5 delivery. I thought that was a bargain. The other websites you mention charge so much for delivery but £5 for 2 25kg sacks? bargain!

One in particular springs to mind and that is Lina Stores on Brewer Street, off Wardour Street in Soho. I buy my Semola Rimacinata from there and I'm almost 100% sure you'll be able to find all Italian flour.

there is a new online deli that does the whole range of Caputo flour in small bags (1kg) and the prices are really good on everything

the link is www.allora.life

hope this helps!

Some clever dicky on Ebay has bought up a rather large stock of the 25kg bags and is breaking it up and selling it in smaller portions to the people of the UK.

Made an account just to post this link because it was killing me not being able to find the one missing link in my 'perfect' pizza recipe.

p.s. Caputo don't make anything less than 25kg bags of their 'Pizzeria' variety. I asked them. They said no. Also, 00 Blue is NOT the same product as the Pizzeria packs according to the retailers and Caputo. They "don't have the same proteins level."

Happy Pizza making

Does anyone want to share a 25Kg bag of Caputo 00 pizza flour, the flour in the blue bag?

I have found a local Italian  bakery come cafe. They sell caputo 00 for very cheap to anyone who comes in and asks. For 500g I paid around 50-60p can't remember exactly how much it was but I remember it was dirt cheap. Good quality authentic Italian pizza flour. If you're in London then let me know and I'll tell you where to find this place.

Thanks but I live in Somerset and don't go to London any more.

You can try asking if they have any Caputo 00 flour and see if they'll sell you some?
