My Love Life: Coffee Cake and Richard Bertinet

Ah got your attention :)

I've been baking the Richard Bertinet way  for the past few months or so and my girlfriend is over the moon about the stuff I'm turning out (thanks Richard) anyway she's put in a request for Coffee Cake and I was wondering if any of you have a Bertinet Coffee Cake Recipe.

Really would help my love life.

Hi,

I'm not unfamiliar to Mr Bertinet. Are you talking about a specific cake? Or just wondering? I'm not sure he knows what a coffee cake is, I mean, he's not unworldy, but I've never seen one published.

Yes, I'm after a recipe for a Coffee Cake by Richard Bertinet.

I have abut half-a-dozen coffee cake recipes on file but the little darling has taken to RB since I went to one of his demos here in Northern Ireland, and she wants me to find out if anyone out there has a RB Coffee Cake recipe.

Don't see any in his books including Pastry, and  I can't track one down on the internet. So here's hoping!

I've owned Dough, pretty sure no cakes in there. I've seen Pastry too, and as you know, none in there.

Good luck on your search. You're better off asking an American, Bertinet is a frenchie, and despite his skills, I doubt he's had as much experience making coffee cakes. Also, are you referring to the american streusel cake, or a coffee (the drink) cake?

If you've got the book, look up his sweet dough recipe and use that as a base for a coffee cake.

I though coffee cake was either the American, crumble-topped cake, or a coffee flavoured cake, say the ubiquitous coffee-walnut cake.

I'm curious, how would you make a coffee cake with his sweet dough?
