spell check

as it always has Floyd, the site is an execellent source of information.

However, I have found that since the chnage to the new forum, spell check is funky sometimes and will not allow the built in to my browser do the job (Safari).

Since modern OSs and browsers have built in spell checking, might I suggest just allowing that to do the job.

Thanks, Fritz

I would love to, I assure you, but there is a conflict between the WYSIWYG editor and the native spellcheckers.  AFAIK I can either give you nice buttons to include links and image and such but override the native spellchecker OR I can make everyone learn HTML but they could use their built-in spellchecker. I think most members would agree the former is preferable.

Currently the spellchecker is misbehaving.  I'm trying today to figure out what is wrong and fix it.

It is a difficult situation with the spell checker sometimes, but definitely much better than learning HTML I can tell you. As a newbi here it took me time to become acquainted with posting pictures and dealing with irratic spellings, but in general it is a lovely system.

I usually write my text in Evernote (I am ipad bound), and paste text in with disabled rich text then enable it again to get correct formatting and picture placement. That works a treat.

didn't know that.  Dunno much about web page building.  Just basing my observations of other sites.

None the less, most excellent site.

Two bits of good news:

  1. I figured out the old spellcheck died because Google shut down their spellcheck service last week. I figured out another solution for English at least.
  2. I also found a hack that lets the built-in browser spellcheck work for the most part.  Fingers crossed, it is working well for me in Chrome right now. Hopefully it'll work for other folks too.
