Malted waffle mix

Looking for a recipe to put together a (just add water) instant malted waffle mix batter for camping. Anyone have any recipes or ideas?

Thanks Chad

This one stumps me.

After searching a number of pages, it seems in some cases that "malted" refers to malted milk powder, and in some cases just refers to "malt powder", which I'm assuming is non-diastatic barley malt powder. It seems "malted milk powder" appears to be powdered milk to which powdered barley malt has been added. I've never made waffles with added malt powder, but it sounds like a good idea.

Carbon's Golden Malted mix (which appears to be popular) has Enriched Wheat Flour, Corn Flour, Leavening (baking soda, monocalcium phosphate + sodium acid pyrophosphate (the last two are just commercial double acting baking powder)), Malt Powder, Salt, Sugar, Buttermilk and artificial flavor.

To make these, their recipe calls for

2 eggs, beaten
1 ¼ cups water
2 cups Carbon’s Golden Malted Flour mix
4 tbsp. butter, melted

With some sleuthing, you should be able to guesstimate or reverse engineer a formula

(right next to the jerky) then steam them back to life on the trail.  Might want to try it at home first to see if it can be done.  Or make em like cookies (so they fit into a cup) and hydrate/dunk them in tea or coffee.

I've heard black bears are keen on stealing belgian waffle irons from unsuspecting campers and that they are pretty good at it.

Have you heard the reports?
