I think all of the slashing patterns would appeal to bread buyers.

You're preaching to choir here on TFL with those patterns. However, if you're serious about marketing your bread, you need to consider the customer you're trying to reach. If your buying group are occasional customers, such as once a week or every other week, those attractive and dramatic patterns will catch their eye and help them remember your location. Should you be selling to bread buyers on a daily basis, develop a pattern that makes your loaves easy to slice into a practical size. That way the children who develop a taste for your bread will "convince " their parents to become your regular customers.

David Snyder's slashing pattern from a recent post about a miche might be difficult to replicate at first but it could attract both the casual and frequent customers.

Cheers for the input. Also the kind words @dabro and @evon.

@Postal- thanks for the input, always a help. I do not perticulary care for the miche cross hatch pattern, but it is not about me. My Wife, who is infinitely smarter than I, suggested one type of slash for a certian type of bread. I.E. Whole Wheat one style, White Sourdough another style and on and on. I feel that Bannatons (rectangles) are more suited to the way most American view bread, I could be wrong, hell I could be right, that's the fun part. I get to experiment and find out on my own.

Cheers,

Wingnut
