Pita bread dough in a bread machine

Has anyone successfully made pita bread in a bread machine. Surely it should be easy, use a pita bread recipe, make the dough via the machine, then roll out and bake as per normal pita bread. The PB recipes I've seen say to knead for ten minutes. Is that somewhere in the ballpark of what my machine will do? I've got the widely used Panasonic machine.

Any problems I haven't spotted, advice, success stories, or why did the bread machine cross the road jokes?

I have done it numerous times and it makes it beautifully! I even use Quinoa and or Wheat flour! I LOVE my machine! It does a much better job of kneading that I can!! Give it a shot!

I have a Panasonic and made whole wheat pita dough for the first time last week and it was aewsome!  The recipe I used was from Beth Hensperger's Bread Machine Cookbook.  HERE IT IS:

1 1/4 cups warm water

pinch of sugar

2 tblsps Olive Oil

1 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour (i used plain whole wheat flour)

1 1/2 cups bread flour

1 1/2 tsps salt

2 tsps bread machine yeast

Use the "Basic" dough cycle. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.  When dough is complete, turn onto floured surface and divide in half.  Cover one half with plastic so it does not form a skin, and divide the other into 5 balls and let rest for 10 minutes.  Do the same with the other half.  After the first rest, on a well floured surface roll out each ball into 5-6 inch disk, about 1/4 inch thick and place on a floured dish towel and let them rest for 25-30 minutes. They should puff up slightly. Meanwhile place a pizza stone on the bottom rack of your oven and preheat to 450 degrees.     Transfer the circles to the baking sheets - should fit 5 per sheet.  Bake one sheet at a time directly on the hot stone.  Do not open the door for at least 4-5 minutes.  Bake for 12-14 minutes until fully puffed and lightly browened.  Remove the from the pan with a wide metal spatula and place stacked in a dish towel to keep them soft.
