I like playing with toothpicks or in this case, chopsticks to get ideas for slashing. It is easy to lie the sticks down next to the loaf to use as a guide while slashing. Nice to see the theory in practice too. :) Should I tell Eric that I haven't slashed any better than he has?  It must lie in the way the dough is rolled or folded up.  I got to get me a magic bowl.

I will try this technique next time. I bet you could design all sort of things by laying them out in toothpicks or chopsticks. Thanks!
