I've been thinking about writing this post for the past week. If anyone is at all offended by it, flag it and Floyd will remove it. I'm just too proud not mention it to this community I'm a small part of, wherein I've made many virtual friends.

I've written a novel. It's hard Science Fiction.  I tried publishing it in the old-fashioned way, but reaped only agents' rejection letters. I've self-published it with Amazon Kindle.

If you're interested, visit http://www.JonKromer.com. The first three chapters are available to read.

Although i don't reach much Novels, let alone science fiction ( i'm more of a fantasy, if any); i followed your novel link, and would like to express my admiration at your achievements in the navy. I love how this site hosts a community of various backgrounds, cultures, and achievements, yet unites them under their common enthusiasm for good, home baked bread!

Nice photograph btw, David!

That photo was taken a few years ago in England. I was steering a narrowboat on the Grand Union canal.

Nah, I'm fine with community members of good standing like yourself sharing a bit of what else is going on in their lives from time-to-time.  Particularly exciting accomplishments like this.

Congratulations, David. Or Jon, I should say. ;^)

Best,

-Floyd

Congratulations, writing a book is a big endeavor and I appreciate all the work that goes into it!  I'm off now to take a look :)

Writing and baking, that's about all I'm doing these days.

Congratulations.

I'm a writer too.  Used to be all science fiction, now I can't decide on a genre so I've played around a lot - fantasy, mainstream, mystery.

Any chance you'll get that book out for the nook?

to do next.

At the moment I'm tied exclusively to Amazon, but that will end in about a month and a half. Sales are sluggish, so I need to do something, just don't know what yet.

Is any of your work published: paper or digits?

Years ago, I had some of my science fiction stories published online, but they were not that good and I'm kind of ashamed that anyone might find them.  I've had a couple of articles published in Christian Woman magazine (print) more recently.  It's a pretty small circulation magazine, though it does pay a little bit.  But those articles (and having them published there) are important to me for more than just financial reasons.  Other than that, nope.  It put a big dent in my publishing stats when I decided to shoot for paying markets :)  Also, I'm just not turning out short stories anymore.  I've started focusing on novel length ideas, and I'm have trouble getting through the revision of such long work.

I do have a blog, www.breadandmeditations.com, which has some of my devotional writing, as well as bread-baking experiments, on it.  But that's a very different vein of writing than science fiction.

If you ever get the book onto Barnes and Noble in nook format, post to this thread so I'll know.  I do not own, nor plan on owning, a Kindle.
