Bacon Rolls?

Hey Everybody,

My brother is coming home from living in Czech and he wants me to make these "bacon rolls".  He said they are sooo good, but expensive.  He said the bacon kinda bakes into the bread and all the oils drizzle down.  Looks pretty good to me!  He said they are awesome!!!  Any ideas?

I was just going to try PR's kaiser roll bread, make it into a hot dog bun shape and slap a piece of bacon on it.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much!

Faith

That kind of bacon is also called Kaiserfleisch.     "fleisch" translates to "meat"

Kaiserfleisch on a Kaiser dough!

>> wonder if one has to flip the bacon over half way thru <<

Meat Candy!   I will have to try this.  I've done some great things w/ Sausage and Pepperoni, but bacon....

Just spent a year in Canada eating lots of bacon for breakfast.

Sliced up my favorite bacon in Austria and surprised how it didn't taste like traditional breakfast bacon strips in USA or Canada.  Austrian bacon (at least this one) tastes more like ham.

So maybe a slice of ham might to better topping the roll than bacon if the bacon is US made.  Don't quite know what the difference is in the Czech Republic.

Ooo yum, Austrian bacon sounds yummy! :)

We tried this with bacon, and it was good.  We found that if you par-cook the bacon a bit, it does better while baking.  Thanks for another idea though, ham sounds good too! ;)

I would even add some bacon drippings to the recipe (replacing other fats in the recipe).

I like bacon so much I make bacon cream gravy and serve it over biscuits. Bacon cream gravy is made just like sausage gravy, except bacon drippings and crumbled cooked bacon are substituted for the sausage.
