To Steam Or Not To Steam

I'm in the process of make the Pane alla Cioccolata bread from the Italian Baker.  I've never made this before, and am wondering do I steam or not?  Hope I get an answer before it's time to bake.  If I don't hear then I think I'll steam.  Anyway, everyone have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday.

Steam at the begining of the bake is always a good thing. Most sweet breads aren't steamed however. Thats all I'm prepard to say!

Since, I never made this before, I think I'll go with not steaming since it is a sweet bread.  Thanks so much for your quick reply.

I would have guessed that any bread with a significant crust needs steam. Assuming that all breads without a significant crust are sweet breads is a fairly reasonable first approximation.

Normally I steam all my breads, but I never made this one before, so I am taking the chance of not steaming.  It's in the oven now, so will wait & see.
