Howdy, from Oxfordshire
Only discovered the site a couple of weeks ago, and am just so glad to have found this passionate little community.
I'm an American/Australian living in a little village on the Thames river, in Oxfordshire, England.
My bread ain't great, and it sure ain't pretty, but, damn, it's good!
Getting better with y'all's help.
Thanks, Floyd, for the site. If you're ever nearby, let me thank you with a loaf and a homebrew.
Welcome. I see you've made several postings without getting a lot of response (except for cling wrap). Apparently people are doing something else because it's summer. I'm hoping people come back to The Fresh Loaf soon. Then you'll get some answers.

Lovely to hear from you, Rosalie. I've just moved in to a new home, so am flexing the kitchen to see how it feels. Bread's good, so far! Answers are good. More and more questions are better, 'cause that means I'm still curious, and that means I'm still baking! One of the nice things about living through a not-very-warm English summer is that the weather doesn't discourage being around the oven.
As you can see from the below, beauty ain't my specialty. But it was damn good!
Have a lovely Sunday, Rosalie.
Today's bread
Prandium longa. Vita brevis.
nice to meet you, it is fun reading about all this bread.
Welcome...

Hi there! Yes, it's a great site and loads of information here. Also, a very friendly forum!
Whereabouts in Oxfordshire? On the Thames sounds lovely!
Andrew
Thanks for the semi-local shout-out.
Just outside of Henley, a little village called Shiplake (or, properly, Lower Shiplake). It was George Orwell's boyhood home. And I don't really live on the Thames, but the village abutts the river. Although, in the last few weeks, the river was closer to my front door than usual. Uncomfortably so.
