That last sentence is what gets me. “The introduction of synthetic genes to make natural products…” The former, by definition, cannot lead to the latter!

And that sums up my feelings on GMO garbage.

I just wonder what point you're making, exactly. Are you arguing that a fabricated gene is natural, or that fabricating that gene for an organism is somehow different than GMO (which means genetically modified organism...)?

 

I do appreciate the attitude that allows folks to split hairs. It is what allows "organic" farmers to use synthetic fertilizers and pesticides...after all, they're fabricated from isolated chemical components of naturally-occuring substances. Without the ability to effectively dissemble, where would our industries be.
