Need help with finding an appliance lift for my counter top dough mixer.

Hi Guys:  My name is Ann and I have been visiting for well over a year and I love all the educational info, recipes, step by step photos, available on this website. It is indeed a treasure for bread bakers.

I need your help. I am getting ready to purchase a 64 lb counter top dough mixer for home use and would like to get an appliance lift I can install inside my cabinet to make the mixer easy to access and use instead of having to pull it out onto the countertop every time I want to use the machine. The problem I am encountering is that the Rev-a-shelf can only accomodate 60 lbs max. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use or suggest alternatives. I have just googled "appliance lifts"and just coming up with the the Rev-a-shelf product which will not work for me.

Thanks for your help.

I'll bet the people at either Lowes or Home Depot can make some recommendations.

How about putting it in a basement kitchen or garage on a sturdy table?   I didn't know home mixers are allowed to get that heavy.  Home kitchens do have limits.   Sounds like a need for a separate industrial kitchen.   Are you sure that's not a floor model?

Hi Mini Oven: I don't have a lot of room in my kitchen for any type of table, since I have a very large island, floor space is limited. This table top mixer is coming from Germany, I am positive it is counter top and not a floor model. Thanks for your suggestion I apprecite it.

Thanks

Also check www.leevalley.com or www.rockler.com look for some heavy duty bottom mount slides.

I would screw the slides to the bottom inside surface of your cabinet, and then screw a piece of plywood onto that.  Place your mixer on it and use 3" long pieces of wood situated around the mixer base to keep it from jumping around.

Make sure that you use the correct thread screws when installing, most kitchen cabinets are made out of particle board which is very weak compared to plywood or real wood.

Thanks dwcoleman that sounds like a good way to go. Will check them out.

Thanks again Ann

Hi Ann,

You can see some reviews of  the Rockler's that dwcoleman mentioned above.

I hope you can find a good one,

Hi Akiko: I have already looked into the Rev-a-shelf, unfortunately it will not carry the weight of my machine, the max weight it will carry is 50 lbs. My machine is about 63 lbs, so at this point I am trying to find alternatives. Thanks for assisting.

  Hi Ann,

I thought the one was up to 60 lbs..   But it may be unstable to hold such a heavy duty mixer.  I am sorry about that.

I was googling  to look up for more of the appliances, I found one that is very stable, but it is for disabled people.

I think  it needs a really stable one to store 63lbs machine.

Good luck, Ann!

I also checked out the handicapped website this morning as well. I will continue searching and I know I will find something soon. Thanks again.

I don't know your kitchen design but will keeping the mixer on the countertop behind a slide down/sideways door work? It seems like even lifting it from beneath the counter or island would really obstruct the pathway between island and other countertop.

I haven't been able to find any but is there a similar, industrial application that is available for machine shop use?

Does the company that sells the mixer have any suggestions for you?

Can Rev-A Shelf help you out in any way?

Does the 63# take into account the weight of the dough in the mixer? That can add quite a bit to the loaded weight.

Hi clazar123:

My kitchen has a lot of counter space, but limited on floor space. I may end up going in that direction. I have checked out the Rev-a-shelf and it will only carry up to a max of 60#, my machine alone is 63#, that does not include the accessories, so I had to take that one off my list. The mini electric lift looks really cool, but I would need a little more floor space. I think the appliance garage is my best bet, and since the machine will be hidden that's even better. I appreciate the time you took to help.

is if the mixer is attached to a heavy base plate, it would be interesting to know if that could be removed (reducing the weight) and be mounted on a normal scissors lift.

Have you thought about hydraulic lifts?  What about a cart that could fit inside the cabinet and be rolled out and cranked up to hight and shoved around to where you need it?  LINK

Hi: Great ideas will definately look at both ideas and see which works best for my situation. I have been considering hydraulic lifts, but nothing I had researched looked like it would work. The link you sent me with the sissors lift may very well work. I have to go back and look at the measurements and see if it will fit in my pantry cabinet. Thank you so much for taking the time out off your busy day to find this for me, I so appreciate it.

God bless

Ann
