Tonights Desserts: Yule Log & Red Velvet Cake

For the family dinner tonight at my daughters home.  I was asked to bring cupcakes..red velvet cupcakes.  I've never made a red velvet cake so I decided this morning to add a Yule Log, this is a first also, as you can probably tell a lot of last minute baking on my part.  It has been a very busy week.  My family 'not including myself and husband' are leaving to spend Christmas in Hawaii in a few days.  So we planned some holiday celebration early.  They are very much into red velvet cake lately...I didn't want to make cupcakes so make cakes.  Hopefully they all taste ok...everything is from scratch...lots of heavy cream, eggs, chocolate, cream cheese, not to much sugar, plenty of red food color ;)!

They adopted a new shelter rescue, a tiny little pom-chihuahua mix...it is on medication for kennel cough and has been doing very good, and is as all the animals extremely pampered!  So grandma 'me' is in charge of her till they return home.  They also have six other dogs, horses, birds, goats and chickens...but I'm just watching the pup...I have 3 dogs of my own.

So here's dessert!  Ready to go!

Happy Baking, Happy Eating, Happy Holidays!

I just re-read the 'not going to Hawaii' part.  Oh well, hope you still have a warm Holiday!

Well, that's not fair, Sylvia!

You get to dog sit and they get Hawaii??  After you baked them that beautiful Yule log and luscious cakes?

I guess the bright side is that you don't have to horse, goat, chicken, etc. sit, too. ;-)

Do have a wonderful holiday.

Gorgeous, tasty-looking Yule Log, Sylvia.

You're a good mom/grandma to feed them such treats and then look after their sickly pup.

and Holiday Cheer....don't feel to bad for me staying home and puppy sitting...see my charge!  What a little sweetie, all dressed for the Christmas party.  Actually she's a pom-yorkie mix, shelter rescue.  @ Lindy 'lol' your right about the bright side...they know my comfort zone so well!

and the puppy is cute as a bugs ear! However, I think that for next year you should ask for the Hawian Trip and leave them in the cold wet UK! LOL

on the tv, and feel badly for you poor people, of course there is snow, but we are in cold weather, we have about 5 inches of snow that has fallen since the 11th, so we are ok for that, but the cold is not fun, and while its only about +14 right now, its been -4 farenheit for several days before it warmed up. I hate the weather here since they went metric, you never know if its cold or colder! Of course if it hits =40 then its the same no matter, damn cold!

This is my cute pet, he sits in the kitchen watching me cook, sleeps on my pillow and generally drives me nuts.
