Gosh, can we do nothing to stop the "People" spam? This is so annoying!
(Look at me, a new member, already demanding things. New people, sheesh.)

Katie, I think Floyd is traveling, so we may have to put up with this until he gets back with us, unless someone else has administrator privileges.
Oh, well...I guess it can be ignored. Although it's hard to find new posts when they're buried in a sea of "People"!
Hmmmm...the plot thickens!
In some blog software frameworks a comment that receives a large enough negative rating disappears. I am not sure if the framework Floyd uses does that, or if he has implemented that function. But it can't hurt if we all pop the spam messages with a [Minus]. Let's see what happens when they get to -16.
I just clicked on "minus" on all of them that I could find.

While Floyd is travelling, he asked me to nuke spam if I see it, so I'm obliteriating as I can (he kindly gave me spam-nuker rights). Alas, I've got to work, too, but I'll do the best I can.
thanks Jmonkey for your help while we're out of town.
We have had no internet access until this morning when I realized that our hotel had finally restored their wireless as we were headed out the door. A shame that Floyd had to spend an hour and a half this evening cleaning up after our famous internet drama geek- actually, I'm not even sure he's done dealing with the mess...
This person deleted a bunch of his own useful comments and then left behind something like 300 blank comments *all over* the site, apparently just to be a jerk and clog up the threads, over some percieved slight that I'm fairly certain is hogwash given that Floyd really *does* have better things to do than to stew over this guy and his apparent overblown importance. oh my lordy, what an ego! I don't know if that's what the "people" spam was too, but certainly this was an unexpected annoyance.
I find it hard to believe an adjusted adult would put this much effort into creating dramas because he was told not to call people names for asking beginners questions on a forum geared towards welcoming folks into the world of baking. Then again, we're talking about someone who gets worked up over terminology like teaspoons and cups so why should I have been surprised.
In the end, you know what? Floyd has put a ton of time and cost into creating this site and working towards making it a welcoming environment. Frankly, it's his prerogative to kick out rude people that come into his living room to try to make up the rules for his other guests. This has NEVER been about who has more knowledge, and that is just laughable. Many of the folks posting regularly are probably a hell of a lot better bakers than Floyd is, and that's awesome - that's what he was hoping for.
You want to go create a place where you can be a snot to other folks because you have some sort of superiority complex, go somewhere else - and if you've been told this while the door hits your backside from more than one forum, consider that folks may be more impressed by knowledge and experience that isn't shared with know-it-all attitudes that make you so unbearable to deal with.
I think I've cleared out all the "People" spam, but I don't have the rights to get rid of the log-in or block the IP address. I'll try to keep an eye on spam as best I can until Floyd gets back online and can take care of the nasty spammer.
Thanks, JMonkey! You're incredibly multi-talented! =)
I really appreciate you taking care of us while Floyd is on vacation, especially with having to work on top of it!
Your efforts show that this is indeed a community of high merit and worth! Bravo JM!
