Cast Iron Loaf Pan - USA made, only until 11/28!

Lodge Manufacturing makes the only cast iron loaf pan made in th USA that I know of.  Sante Fe and Old Mountain are made in China.  If that's okay with you, that's fine, this is not an argument for or against manufacturing in China.  I just wanted to post this for those of you who may have been searching for a cast iron loaf pan made in the USA.  Lodge sells theirs only once a year, and I wanted to share it with you that they are currently on sale, but only until November 28.

is the loaf pan on the lodge site for bread?  says it holds 3.5 cups but doesn't give the size of the pan.  I've emailed them twice in the past week and not heard back.  Are these mini pans?  Kind of odd they don't give the dimentions and they do for everything else.

I measured one of my lodge loaf pans

7 3/4 x 3 7/8 x 2 7x8

They don't say 'bread' but they are the size and shape of a 1 loaf pan.  You can make anything you want in them, but they turn out a beautiful loaf of bread every time!

I want to start using Lodge Loaf pans for my bread...but, I'm trying to figure out how many pans to buy. I usually make 4-6 loaves of bread at a time. Do you know "what size" loaf of bread this pan takes? Maybe a 1-pound loaf? Or, is it 1.5 pounds? I may need to call and ask Lodge.

Thanks for any help!

4 cups = 7-3/8 x 3-5/8 x 2-1/4

6 cups = 8-1/2 x 3-5/8 x 2-5/8

8 cups = 9 x 5 x 3

Expect variations among manufacturers.

wow, thanks so much.  so the Lodge is not really for a bread loaf pan after all. No wonder they don't advertise it as such on the web site.  Thanks for the info, and heads up, guess I won't be ordering it.  Shame, sounds wonderful.  I love Lodge cookware and have many pieces of it from Amazon.

I went with the Camp Chef pans.  Just about every thing else cast Iron I have is  LODGE but for a few 1800's pieces I use every day from antique malls.

The Camp Chef is very very nice.  It's seasoned but I don't like the smell so I'm going to scrub them down and reseason with lard.   I cure and smoke my own bacon and hams so have excess drippings.  these pans are well made, heavy and pans I'd be proud to display.  Lets see how bread bakes in them.  I'm wondering if it will take too long to heat up the pan and then over bake??

I got an email from Lodge about the pans they have on their site, not listed for bread.  The email said that is the only size pan they make that might be for bread anymore.  I understand they did have larger bread pans in the past.

I ordered my Camp Chef pans (and a bunch of bread cookbooks) on Saturday night and got the pans (not the books) today, Wednesday with free shipping.

I have a few pieces of pre-seasoned cast iron pieces from two different manufacturers. One suggested cleaning before the first use or additional seasoning with hot, soapy water. Yikes! I cleaned all except one with only hot water and a brush. With one I did use soapy water, but very little soap with a lot of water, a brush, and a lot of rinsing. There may be a wax-like coating by some manufacturers to protect the cast iron. Soap will soften any seasoning and get into the seasoning.
