Hello from Central Ohio

My return to bread-baking is a return to a former life when I was a full-time homemaker. Everything that came out of my kitchen was from scratch. I did bake bread at that time, but it was never like my mother said my grandmother made when she was baking 15 loaves of bread a week.

For several years, I have done holiday baking for hire, and have spent the last several months researching and developing new products to make this a year-round venture. Farm Market season begins in just a few weeks, and Ohio's cottage industry laws allow me to jump into this with both feet, without the huge capital outlay of a commercial site. In addition to bakery items, I also offer jams, jellies and fuit butters, made in season, seasoning blends, mixes, spaghetti sauce, salsa and hopefully, my soon-to-be world famous Bloody Mary Mix!

Of course, one of my products will be bread. Not those white loaves the Amish sell by the roadside on the weekends, but artisan-style. My man discovered this site while looking for information on baking stones, and we've found it incredibly helpful. I'm still fighting a little with sour-dough, but have created some amazing savory breads.

May your yeast and starters never fail!

I'll be at the Market on the Square in Mt. Vernon beginning Saturday 6/8...

If you're around...stop and see me. I'll be the one without the bonnet!

Debrose, for how much can you sell your loaves ?

I am asking because I got many poeple, friends, friends of friends, neighboors,co-workers asking if they could buy some bread (instead of waiting for the occasional gift). It would be interesting to me to know how much you charge and how you determine your sales price.

I'm sure you will find a lot of help and fun here.

I love farmers markets and can't wait until the season starts! Where I am in New England they are all starting within the next couple of weeks.
