Site problem

Is there a problem with some of the blogs on the site?

In the latest new content notification email all the blog links I've tried so far show the same problem

When I click on the link, all the comments show (subsequent posts), but in the original topic, the first entry on the page, has only the title, the "submitted" line and the stuff under that, but the actual topic text and pictures is replaced by a single "." and nothing else.

For example

http://www.thefreshloaf.com/node/7952/granary-cob-sourdough

http://www.thefreshloaf.com/node/7861/french-fold-technique-thoughts

and

http://www.thefreshloaf.com/node/8365/baguette-au-levain-sans-levure-commerciale

If I access blog entries from the Home page the "Recent Baker Blog" entries seem to be OK, BUT, clicking on "All blog activity..." takes me to "Hamelman's baguettes with poolish" and nothing else.

I also notice that the items in the email are not in the list on the front page, but this may be due to them being bumped off the bottom if the list by more recent activity.

It may be that foolishpoolish deleted the content and replaced it with the "."

Nothing wrong with that account - that is just something the user apparently decided to go back and start deleting all their content with periods that way. Nothing we can do as admins to prevent folks from editing their own work, I'm afraid.  It'll just mean we have to go back and clean up the mess the user has left behind to stop further confusion.

I also presume that if foolishpoolish deleted all their posts and / or changed their nickname then the database underneath this site would have interpreted it as a new post and populated the daily email with all the now-deleted blogs.

I confess that I didn't notice that they all came from this one person.

However it does not explain the other oddity concerning the link to other blogs on the home page.

what other blogs are having issues? Again, we have not done anything to these accounts, but every now and then users do strange things and go delete all their old posts, as is the case with that user, who added "Yes. Was not attempting to create confusion. It's part of an ongoing effort to remove as much content as possible of mine from the www."

The nickname change happened long before any of that content was even posted so again - there's nothing wrong with the account - the user deleted their own posts.

I have also noticed this. I tried all sorts of adjustments in my browser thinking sth must be wrong. Then I came across your post. Must be what pjaj suggested.

I am having the problem only with foolishpoolish.  everyone else is coming through fine.

As Dstroy said - I've been clearing out my blog. This doesn't affect any other blogs on the site and it's not a database/username error.

Sorry for any confusion!

Are you blogging under a different username now?

You guys are running up an incorrect assumption with this username business, because the username changed many moons ago (as in: the user used to have an account name that reflected being a "newbie baker" and then created the "new" one (over two years ago!) where these "new" posts were made.

Someone mused that the reason for the mysterious posts had something to do with the name change but that was an incorrect assumption, as clarified repeatedly now.

If the user wants to erase their history online, let's allow that and please move on. Thanks.

Perhaps there would be less confusion if the person deleting his/her blog contents would simply add to the empty page:   [DELETED BY AUTHOR]

Done.
