Just the way Mom used to make it! I seem to remember she put suet in it, but it was delicious and really stuck to the ribs on those cold days. Thanks for the memory, qahtan, A.

Yes suet was the thing when I was a girl, it did to the flavour, but I always use butter in mine.. ;-))

 couldn't afford butter back in the old days....... qahtan

Mom made another pudding to fill us up cheaply. A suet dough with Tate and Lyle's Golden Syrup drizzled over before baking. Served with Bird's custard, of course. Then the one where she somehow lined a dish with cornflakes and added custard and topped it with more cornflakes then baked it. I imagine she invented some of the things we ate during the war - but we never went hungry! A.
