Why is my whole wheat bread so dry?!

I am trying to make whole wheat sandwich bread.  I used a recipe from Beth Hensperger's book The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook for Honey whole wheat bread.  It rose gloriously and came out a beautiful golden brown but it is so heavy and dry.

Any suggestions?
