In this dish, cubed pieces of butternut squash are mixed into a basic bread pudding that's spiced by cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. It's a subtle -- yet rich -- balance of sweet and savory. That, on its own, makes for a phenomenal dessert, but the addition of a rum caramel sauce to the pudding elevates this dish into "oh-my-god-I'm-in-love-with-this-dessert" territory.

We've been blown away but some of the products we bought at Broadbent's. Theirs is perhaps the best bacon we've ever had. And the savory, smoky sausage didn't disappoint. According to millers, it will probably be the first time that a loaf made from entirely British flour has gone on sale since the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846. All commercial bread makers import at least 20 per cent of their flour from overseas meaning that no bread available in a supermarket is entirely British. Strong flour, usually from Canadian or Kazakhstan, is needed to make loaves rise evenly.
